@SEO I think you miss the main point of it. I specifically say not to do what you say but instead to be ready when a star becomes relevant in your industry and otherwise analyze trends to see what topic people want to know more about.

As much as i agree with you on that one, that writing about someone non-related with one’s business can give one a huge boost @ search results as long as it has a good title, pic and carefully picked words, i’d love to see the Internet work as it was intended at the very begginning: real, relevant information, no tricks to get additional clicks, no black-SEO (which is, unfortunately, used more and more often), no dummy websites with nothing but links on’em, etc.
Oh well, dreams are dream, reality’s reality, nothing one can do about it, right?

Another good method to increase traffic and site visibility is to use free advertising and link exchanges. A lot of bloggers nowadays are so amped up on ‘link baiting’, ’seo’ and ‘viral marketing’ that they forget about this simple and efficient method. I have used a couple of these since I have been blogging and found that they bring in a good amount of traffic without requiring much upkeep or money (always an added bonus).
