I get asked a lot …. if I could do only one thing to my site for SEO what should it be? After explaining it should be to commit to doing more than just one thing often times the answer is optimize title tags throughout your site based on keyword research. Okay, that's probably 2 things (titles and keyword research) but it's amazing how many websites have paid no attention to their page titles!

Meta tags & description is important bcoz they are invisible to public and visible to Private ..here private represents spiders & robots …They will help u to get good rank in search engine…its one part in link buidling.

Not to pile on here, but some of the other posters here are right; alt tags and title tags are not meta tags
