There are new dofollow directories popping up all of the time and I say the more the merrier but it is hard to keep up with all of it. And by the way, nofollow links are getting more credit than they used to. Just because a blog is nofollow does not mean to ignore it.

Most all home improvement is indeed, local so one needs to use sites such as Manta and other who specialize in listing local businesses. It is a very competative field on the web as I'm finding out. Leaving comments on home improvement blogs will provide some links as long as they follow, but you never really know which ones do. Listing in the various directories is a very time consuming process, but worth it if you have hours and hours to work on it---I should say days and days, because thats what it takes with them. If anyone know an easy way let me know.
